First off, I'm gonna provide you with some useful links to the best template sites on the web! Of course these are all free (what we all like the best!)
A template is important for your blogs look and feel. Main rule is to find the template you like the best, BUT if you are blogging to earn a bit of money from AdSense, it might be a good idea to go for an AdSense optimized template. The best templates are easy on the eyes and do not contain too many elements. You also have to consider your readers, they will quickly move on to another site in your niche, if they fint it confusing and hard to manouvre in.
But it's really quite easy to find a nice template, you just have to follow your instinct and think to yourself "Would I come back and visit this blog if I used this template?"
